In 2003 the average gross wages and salaries of full-time and part-time employees of enterprises, institutions and organisations were 6,723 kroons per month and 39.53 kroons per hour. Compared to 2002, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 9.4% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 10.7% higher.

The monthly and hourly gross wages and salaries were the highest in financial intermediation — 2.2 times higher than the average monthly and 2.0 times higher than the average hourly gross wages and salaries.

The monthly gross wages and salaries were the lowest in hotels and restaurants and the hourly gross wages and salaries were the lowest in agriculture and hunting — 62.2% of both the average monthly and hourly gross wages and salaries.

Compared to 2002, the average monthly and hourly gross wages and salaries increased most in hotels and restaurants — by 17.7% and 27.3%, respectively.

Compared to 2002, the average monthly gross wages and salaries decreased only in fishing — by 4.4%. At the same time, the average hourly gross wages and salaries decreased most in the same activity — by 3.6%.
